Abstract
The study aimed to test the mediating role of spiritual intelligence in influencing the relationship between life stresses and marital compatibility among unproductive women in southern Palestinian governorates. The study sample contained 261 infertility women. The researcher used the analytical descriptive method and used study tools such as the Spiritual Intelligence Scale (Aldaba, 2012), the Life Stress Scale (Ahmed, 2017), and the Marital Compatibility Scale (Blum and Mehrabian, 1999; Translated by Abu Sa 'ad, Ahmed Abed al- Latif, 2005). The study results found that the arithmetic average of life stress in infertility women was (2.82), with a relative weight of (56.4%) which is a mean level. While the arithmetic average of spiritual intelligence among infertility women was (4.18), with a relative weight of (83.6%) which is high. Also showed that the arithmetical average of the marital compatibility of childless women was (3.54), with a relative weight of (70.8%), which is also high, according to the approved study test. The study showed a direct effect of the statistical significance at level (α ≤ 0.05) of life stressors with its different dimensions on marital compatibility, at level (α ≤ 0.05) of life stressors with its different dimensions on the spiritual intelligence. It indicated that there is a direct effect of statistical significance at level (α ≤ 0.05) of spiritual intelligence on the marital compatibility of infertility women. The study showed that spiritual intelligence is a partial mediating variable between total grade, life stress and marital compatibility in unproductive women, while is not, for the stressful dimensions of life (psychological, social, and economic stresses) separately. Moreover, it showed that there were no statistically significant differences at level (α ≤ 0.05) in the average of life stress among infertility women due to the variables of status, age, and number of years of marriage. While there are differences attributable to the variables of the scientific level in favor of women less than high school, and there were no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) in the average of spiritual intelligence of infertility women due to the variables of status, age, number of years of marriage, educational level, and type of residence. It indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) in the average of marital compatibility among infertility women, variables are attributable to status, age, number of years of marriage and educational level, while differences are attributed to the housing variable in favor of women living in rented accommodation. Keywords: spiritual intelligence, life stress, marital compatibility, infertility women.
