Abstract
The study aimed to identify the ego strength as a mediating variable in the relationship between future anxiety and life orientation among residents of rehabilitation and reform centers in the southern governorates in Palestine, and to identify the level of each of ego strength, future anxiety, and life orientation, and reveal the relationship between ego strength And each of future anxiety, orientation toward life, and detection of differences between the average scores of inmates of reform and rehabilitation centers in the southern governorates in Palestine for ego strength, orientation toward life, and future anxiety according to the following demographic variables (reform center, age, marital status, educational qualification, detention period ) The sample of the study consisted of (230). the researcher used the following tools: A measure of ego strength prepared by: (Barron) rationing A, Nahia and Thabet (1988), a questionnaire for future anxiety prepared by (the researcher), and a questionnaire about orientation towards life prepared by (Badr Muhammad Al-Ansari, 2001). The study reached the following results: 9.The level of ego strength among the inmates of the reform and rehabilitation centers in the southern governorates in Palestine was high with a relative weight of (40.3%), future anxiety was high with a relative weight (77%), and the orientation towards life was high with a relative weight (75.9%.) 3.There is a direct relationship at the statistical level at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between ego strength and life orientation, while there is an inverse relationship between life orientation, future anxiety and its dimensions, ego strength, and future anxiety. 2.There is a direct effect of statistical significance at the level (α ≤ 0.05) of future anxiety in orientation towards life, and also for future anxiety in ego strength as well as ego strength in orientation towards life. 4. The strength of the ego is not considered a mediating variable in the relationship between future anxiety as a total degree, dimensions and orientation towards life. 5.There are no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the study sample responses in the total score on the ego-strength scale according to demographic variables (age, marital status, educational qualification, length of detention), while there are differences in ego-strength According to the variable of the reform center in favor of the Khan Yunis center. 6.There are no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average scores of the study sample members in the orientation towards life according to the demographic variables (reform center, age, marital status, educational qualification), while there are differences in the orientation towards life according to the variable The period of detention in favor of less than 5 years 7. There are no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the study sample members in future anxiety according to demographic variables (age, marital status, educational qualification, detention period), while there are differences in future anxiety according to a center variable. reform.
