The implementation of ERP system is a complex undertaking for any organization. Managers from all departments and areas of an organization are required to think strategically about and collaboratively to decide what kind of specifications their ERP system. This study was conducted to fill the research gap that exists regarding the issues and challenges faced by companies in developing countries, especially UAE, when they attempt to implement ERP systems. This study will help existing and upcoming organizations to determine which risks are more likely to occur during and after the implementation of ERP systems, and how they can be avoided or mitigated. In this way, the findings of this study are valuable and contribute to the existing literature by focusing on the problems faced by companies in the UAE. In order to improve the effectiveness of ERP systems, organizations should seek the help of external consultants, as the research participants emphasized. Choosing the right ERP software is important for an organization to be able to benefit to the full extent from it. The major contribution of this study is that it provides context to the companies of UAE with regard to ERP implementation and its associated risks. A comprehensive set of risk factors have been identified by experienced managers and professionals.
