Abstract

The aim of this study was to uncover the role of social media and its impact to increasing the number of followers of sports programs according to the opinions of the sports journalists on the Jordanian satellite channels. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the role of social media was built from the view of the sports journalist, and verified the signs of its sincerity and stability. The sample of the study consisted of (100) of the sport journalists working in sport programs in the Jordanian satellite channels ("The Jordanian Channel", the channel "Roya", "Jordan Today" channel). The results of the study showed that the use of social media boosts the of viewing of sports programs as it was high on the tool as a whole, and in all its interlocutors, especially the degree of interest of sport journalists in the use of social media, which was ranked In the first, while the study showed that sport journalists are still in use of some of these means and prefers them more than others, which is demonstrated by the most popular means of social media, which ranked In the last. The results also showed a statistically positive relationship between the role of social media in all it’s interlocutor and boosting the viewers of sports programs. س And here are some recommendations that recommended by the researcher based on the studi: 1. Providing the appropriate training programs that enable sports media professionals to use the latest of social media networks, and thus possessing the necessary skills to fully utilize those social media sites to increase the viewers of sporting events. 2. Focusing on the strategy of communication as on social media networks and informing the public of the information that is important to follow up the events of sports programs. 3. Maximum utilization of the social media networks, and the absolute certainty that these means have a large and effective role in attracting and increasing followers in sports programs. 4. The need for the concern of sports journalists to the social networking on the subject related to sports, and highlights them as an important means to increase viewers of sporting events.
