Abstract

This study aimed to explore the implementation of the Risk and Control SelfAssessment (RCSA) system in BLOM Bank, and the effect of this system on the financial and operational performance of the bank, in addition to the role of the RCSA system in dealing with and controlling for risks that face the bank. The study used a qualitative approach, employing a case study analysis of BLOM Bank in Jordan, using semi-structured interviews to acquire information from branch and department managers in the bank. م The study found that there is a positive effect for implementing the RCSA system on the financial and operational performance in BLOM Bank in Jordan, and that the RCSA system has a significant role in controlling for risks and managing current and potential risks. In addition, the RCSA system is seen as contributing to solving a number of problems that may face the bank and putting in place procedures to deal with these problems. The study recommended the expansion of the use of the RCSA system in BLOM Bank, and organizing brainstorming sessions to discuss any challenges and obstacles that bank faces and the potential use of the RCSA system in dealing with them. It also recommended the use of the RCSA system in all of the BLOM Bank branches and departments, and in other local and international banks as part of their control processes.
