Abstract

The aim of the present study was to examine external factors (legal, economic, and competitive environments) and inernal factors (financial planning, internal control, and managerial efficiency) affecting the financial performance (return on Assets and Return on Equity) of Jordanian Insurance Corporations. Using the analytical descriptive method, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted on a sample consisted of 72 employee working for 24 insurance corporations in order to collect data, 70 questionnaires were returned. Financial performance was measured by retrun on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Simultaneous multiple regression analysis was carried out on study variable to test hypotheses. The findings of the study pointed out that external factors as well as internal factors have statistical significant effect on financial performance of Jordanian Insurance Corporations. The degree to which each independent factor has an influence on the financial performance was reported in the results. Finally, in the light of the findings, the study recommended that insurance companies should pay more attention to external and internal factors affecting their financial performance.
