Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the impact of the dimensions of governance on decision-making in Jordanian private universities in the North. The study population consisted of members of the governing councils in the private Jordanian universities in the North Region, and there are four universities (Irbid National, Ajloun National, Jerash Al-Ahlia, a wall). Which consisted mainly of trustees ’councils, deans’ councils, and a group of colleges ’councils and internal committees in colleges and departments. They numbered (304) members in governing councils in the mentioned universities, where a sample of members of governing councils in the researched universities was chosen by the amount of (170). (Individually, the researcher distributed (170) questionnaires to the members of the study sample, and the number of retrieved questionnaires valid for analysis reached (132) questionnaires from the number of distributed questionnaires, at a rate of (77) percent of the original distributed questionnaires, and (13) were excluded)) A retrieved questionnaire was not valid for analysis, while there were (25) questionnaires that were not resolved Returned. The researcher also relied on the descriptive analytical approach to achieve the study objectives. The researcher developed a measure of the impact of governance dimensions on decision-making. The questionnaire was used as a main tool to collect information. Several statistical methods were used, most notably the multiple regression analysis. The results confirmed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤0.05) due to the dimensions of governance (board of directors, senior management, shareholders) in decision-making in Jordanian private universities in the northern region. Among the most prominent solutions suggested by the sample members is to implement the dimensions of the government in an obligatory manner because of its positive impact on the abundance of information and the skills and ن personality of decision makers. Likewise, developing effective communication mechanisms between shareholders and the Board of Directors, where shareholders can discuss decisions and available information.
