Abstract
This study aimed to know the impact of emotional intelligence as an independent variable (self- awareness, self – management, social skills, and social awareness) in strategic leadership as a dependent variable (strategic orientation, human resource capital development, eithical practices, and strategic control). The current study applied on Jordanian Comercial banks that counts (13) banks, the population size equals (366) individual and because the small size of the population and ease and accessibility to its members, the whole population was chosen as a sample in a means of comperehensive survey and has included top and medium managers that count (366) individual. The number os questionnaires that were valid for analysis were (306) questionnairs. The questionnaire survey was the main tool for data collection and analysing it by using a set of statistical tests as(avaerge, standard deviation, Simple Regression, Multiple Regerssion, Stepwise Regression, and CronBach Alpha) and using AMOS Software version(22) to test Confirmatory factor anlysis for analysing path coefficents. The research results revealed that the jordanain commercial banks care about the emotional intelligence (self- awareness, self – management, social skills, and social awareness) and came in high level from the view points of research sample. In terms of strategic leadership, the results showed that there was careing about all the dimensions of the dependent variable and the average came high from the research sample point of view. When the multipe regression was done, the results showed that there is a significant statistical impact for emotional intelligence on strategic leadership. The study recommend that Jordanian commercial banks should pay more attention to Emotional Intelligence and its practices and should give it priority in managerial work and the necessity to develop the managers capabilities and skills especially who are involved in strategic decesions.
