Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of information technology in the management of educational supervision in governmental schools. In addition‌ ،the study aimed to find out the main obstacles that prevent the use of technology in educational supervision‌ ، and construct a proposed framework‌ ،which can enable the use of information technology in educational supervision among those concerned. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method for it fits the nature of the study. The study population comprised all supervisors and heads of educational supervision departments in the Ministry of Education in the academic year 2014-2015 totaling 197 educational supervisor. To achieve the objectives of the study‌ ،the researcher prepared an- 98-item questionnaire to find out the role of information technology in the management of the educational supervision in governmental schools. The items distributed into five domains. The first tackled supervisors' willingness to employ information technology in educational supervision‌،and consisted of17 items. The second covered the educational supervisor's awareness of the importance of information technology in educational supervision‌،and consisted of 24-items. The third investigated the electronic skill of the educational supervisor in the use of information technology‌ ،and consisted of of15 items. The fourth explored the educational supervisor' usage of information technology in educational supervision‌،and consisted of 22items. Finally‌،the fifth domain focused on the obstacles hindering the usage of electronic supervision‌ ،and consisted of 20 items. The researcher used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (spss) employing a range of statistical techniques‌،including percentages in addition to the t- test‌،analysis of variance‌ ،Pearson correlation coefficient‌ ،Cronbach's alpha test‌ ،and split half to analyze the sample responses. Findings The following are the most important findings of the study: -The average willingness of the educational supervisor in the recruitment of information technology in the management of educational supervision was(60.73). This means that this willingness was moderate. However‌ ،the average awareness of the educational supervisor of the importance of information technology in the management of educational supervision was (93.33) and thus was very high. As for the average of eskill of the educational supervisor in the use of information technology in the management of educational supervision was (55.92) which was moderate. Likewise‌،we find that the degree of using information technology in the management of the educational supervision among educational supervisors was (77.44) which was high. Finally‌ ،the average obstacles hindering the use of electronic supervision was (70.30) which was high. ي Abstract ‌‌-The biggest obstacle faced by the educational supervisor in employing information technology in educational supervision was the large number of administrative burdens placed on the educational supervisor. -Absence of statistically significant diff the willingness of the educational supervisor in the recruitment of information technology in educational supervision due to the variable of sex‌ ،educational qualification and years of service‌ ،while there were statistically significant differences due to the variable of computer literacy and the Internet in favor of the level of computer literacy and the Internet as well as the existence of differences attributed to the school district among the seven school districts in favor of Rafah Educational Region. - Absence of the educational supervisor' awareness of the importance of information technology in educational supervision due to the variable of sex and qualification while there were differences due to the variable of years of service in favor of the category (over 10 years)‌،as well as the existence of statistically significant differences due to the variable of degree of computer literacy and the Internet in favor of those possessing a high level of computer literacy and the Internet and also the existence of differences attributed to the school region in favor of the educational area of west of Gaza. - Absence of statistically significant differences at the level of significance (≤ 0. the educational supervisor's electronic skill in the use of information technology in educational supervision due to the variable of sex and qualification while there were differences due to the variable of years of service in favor of the category (over 10 years). There were also differences due to the variable of degree of computer literacy and the Internet in favor of those possessing a high the level of computer literacy and Internet and there were also differences attributed to the school region in favor of the educational area of west of Gaza. - Absence of statistically significant differenc the educational supervisor's degree of the use of information technology in educational supervision due to the variable of sex and qualification while there were differences due to the variable of years of service in favor of the category (over 10 years). There were also differences due to the variable of the degree of computer literacy and the Internet in favor of the high level of computer literacy and the Internet. Recommendations: Based on the findings of the study‌،the researcher recommends the following-‌: 1-working hard to train and qualify educational supervisors in the field of using information technology to improve their skills and their ability to employ it in educational supervision ك Abstract 2-minimizing administrative burdens of educational supervisors as the study showed that the biggest obstacle hindering the use of electronic supervision among educational supervisors is the administrative burden. 3-designing a special electronic website for educational supervision department of the ministry of education through which information concerning the supervisory process is disseminated as well as creating web pages for educational supervisors.
