Abstract

This study focused on the American Israeli relationship in an exceptional period of the history of the relationship between the two countries, a period of US President Obama, who came to power as the first US president whose origins extend from the Islamic and African assets. The study aimed to answer the question: What is the nature of US-Israeli relations, and its repercussions on the Israeli national security within the period (2009 -2013)? In terms of: the economic support, military, political, the attitude of the United States in support (of Israel) in international forums, its attitudes on the Iranian nuclear project and the Arab Spring revolutions. The researcher used, the historical and descriptive and analytical approaches in this study. The study came out of many results, that answered all questions suggested, most importantly: the Israeli occupying power is weak in nature, and derives its strength from two things, namely: the international support, and Arab weakness, and that the US administration of President Obama adopted the same approach that his American predecessors adopted, such as: the formula of sharing with Israel, its position towards settlement, its support of the two-state solution, with adjustment of the 1967 borders, the thwart of the UN resolutions that may be adopted against Israel, the strategic cooperation, and the support of the Israel's right to defend itself in front of the Palestinian resistance and any Iranian attack. the study recommended constructing a Palestinian Arab relations with the United States on the basis of equality and mutual interests, and without expecting the US bias to the Arab interests especially once contradicting with the Israeli interests, regarding the resolution of the Palestinian issue. The study consisted of four main chapters, that covered the subject matter, and answered its questions. In the introductory chapter the researcher clarified the ز problem of the study, its objectives, its importance, its approach, and introduced a brief overview of the most important previous literature. The paper highlighted the research gap between it and other research topics that characterized it from such previous studies, since the first chapter dealt with the history of Israeli American relations and the concept of Israel's national security. Chapter two discussed Israel's position in the US behavior towards some files like: Iran's nuclear program, and the Arab spring revolutions that broke out in 2011. The third chapter discussed US aid (to Israel) in the economic and military fields, and Chapter four addressed the US attitude towards the peace process and the Palestinian resistance, and the American support (for Israel) at the United Nations and other international forums. The study ended with writing findings and recommendations.
