Abstract

The study tried to analyze the status of employee empowerment at the Islamic University and the role it plays in achieving it's strategic goals. The five dimensions of empowerment were selected after reviewing literature and previous studies in order to measure their role in achieving the strategic goals of the university. To achieve the purpose of the study the researcher used the analyticdescriptive approach. The interview and the questionnaire were the two main tools used in collecting data. The researcher conducted interviews with staff members who held positions related to the topic of the study, while a questionnaire was distributed among a sample of 320 out of 1069 making the staff population of the university. 288 of the employees responded to the questionnaire with a total percentage of 90%. The most important results of the study are as follow:  The Islamic University is abiding by the dimensions of administrative empowerment as moderately reported by the respondents of questionnaire with a percentage of 64.87%.  The strategic goals of Islamic University sought for in this study were achieved with a percentage of 72.56% according to the responses given in the questionnaire.  The role of empowerment in achieving the strategic goals of the Islamic University was statistically significant at the level of )α ≤ 0.05). The most important recommendations of the study are as follow:  Give the relationship between empowerment and the fulfillment of strategic goals, new patterns of empowerment need to be developed in order to help staff reach better administrative empowerment and achieve strategic goals.  Providing employees with freedom that enables them select the appropriate method through which they can carry their tasks, this also involoves giving more flexibility at work.
