Abstract

This study aims to reveal the impact of the market share of Jordanian pharmaceutical companies on their profitability. This study was conducted on all pharmaceutical industrial companies in Jordan, whose shares have been traded on the Amman Stock Exchange during the period (2010 - 2015). They are six companies. The market share, which represents the independent variable, was calculated by dividing the operating income of each sample company by the operating income of the medical sector. As well as the profitability of the companies, which were measured by the return on working capital, return on assets and return on equity, represent the dependent variables, it has been presented based on the annual financial statements of Jordanian pharmaceutical industrial companies, for the period (2010-2015). The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) has been used to address the initial data, the percentages, repetitions, arithmetic, median, standard deviations, and largest and lowest values, all were used, describe the study variables, the simple linear regression analysis to test the study hypotheses of were used. The main results of the study were as follows: س 1. There is a negative correlation between market share and return on working capital. While the correlation between market share and return on assets and return on equity was positive. 2. There is no effect of market share (Percentage of sales of the company to pharmaceutical sector sales as a whole) on return on working capital, return on assets, and return on equity in Jordanian pharmaceutical companies.
