Abstract

Synthesis of Deuterated sugar nucleotide donor, Guanosine diphosphate mannose(D-1-GDP-man) 1is decribed in this work using improved synthetic route goes through oxidation of the anomeric hydroxyl to ketone and then reduction of the ketone using sodium borodeuteried to insert the deuterium. Finally the mannose monophosphate was coupled with nucleotide to give GDP-mannose label C-1 with deuterium. This sugar nucleotide is intended to be used to investigate the mechanism of mannosyltransferases enzymes.
