Abstract

Grey water is considered a type of wastewater which constitute damage to human health and environmental health, add to that water scarcity that Gaza strip suffers and inadequacy of underground water. This study aims to develop a method for grey water treatment to reuse in agricultural and domestic purposes, In order to save consumption of pure water for other human purposes as drinking. The methodology was used is practical experimental design and application. The method depends on using a microfilter consisting of sand, biochar, charcoal, organoclay and sawdust in a very low concentration for grey water treatment. This treatment resulted in reduction in BOD, COD, TKN, TDS and EC. Turbidity is also declined and the resulted PH was more suitable for agriculture. This microfilter treatment was economical, safe, easy to handle and easy to be applicable in growing countries, as Palestine and especially for Gaza strip which suffers from decline in water resources, electricity and income. This study is recommended to be exhibited to Palestinian water authority and ministry of environment for application to gain maximum benefit effectiveness for people and associate in solving water scarcity problem.
