Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of motivation among the employees in the military medical services in Gaza strip using the five job characteristics included in the Hackman-Oldham Job Characteristics Model (skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback). In addition to that, it aimed to find out the relationship between these characteristics and the level of motivation of the employees in the military medical services. Moreover, it aimed to identify the ways of increasing the level of their motivation and working on enhancing them. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach for this study and used a questionnaire as a research tool. The study population consisted of (797) employees; the questionnaire was distributed on a sample of (340) employees using the random stratified sampling and (321) questionnaires (an average of 94.4%) were returned. SPSS program was used to analyze the data and verify the hypotheses. The most important results of the study included: 1- The level of the five job characteristics studied among the employees of the military medical services is high with a mean of (76.20%). 2- High level of motivation among the employees of the military medical services with an average of (68.04%) 3- There is a positive statistical significant relationship between the five job characteristics and the level of motivation among the employees in the military medical services in Gaza with a correlation coefficient of (0.7040). The most important recommendations of the study: 1- Giving the employees of the medical services more freedom and independence in determining the work procedures. 2- Providing orientation for the employees that covers their tasks and responsibilities. 3- Providing feedback for the employees regarding their performance and giving them the chance to discuss these results. 4- Enhancing the communication with the employees and giving them more chances to share their ideas. 5- Enhancing the work environment.
