Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the coordination with international organizations and its role in supporting the health sector in the Gaza Strip, and to recognize the obstacles that stand in the way of coordination process, as well as to identify the most important proposals that contribute in the development of coordination process between international organizations and the public health sector. The researcher used the descriptive analytical methodology depending on data collection for questionnaire tool and interviews with community study. A questionnaire is designed to the coordination officials in international organizations; (63) questionnaires were distributed in which (56) questionnaires were returned, with response rate (88%). The interview tool was also used to the (6) of the coordination officials in the public health sector and one interview with WHO coordination official; data collected through the questionnaire tool were analyzed using SPSS program. The study comes out with the following results: 1. The results show in terms of coordination type that good coordination between international organizations and the public health sector contributes significantly in the proper utilization of funding to support this sector. The results come with a percentage of (%88.214) 2. There were differences in the response of the study sample at the level of significance (0.05 ≤α( in the coordination with international organizations and its role in supporting the health scoter due to the type of the organization in favor of Arab organizations. 3. The most important obstacles that highly limit from the coordination between the international organizations and the public health sector in which the most notably is the political situation in the Gaza Strip and its impact on the international organizations response to fund health projects; 4. In regards of the recommendations of the respondents to activate the coordination process between international organizations and the public health sector, the results show that they are proposing the need for updating data related to the priorities of the public health sector needs and the necessity to inform the international organizations about the required needs as well as keep updated with the latest situation through conducting regular meetings and preparing reports. ز In light of the most important outcomes, the researcher recommended the following: 1. Enhance the role of good coordination between international organizations and the public health sector in order to contribute to the good use of funding to support this sector. 2. Strengthen the partnership with donors in better way especially foreign organizations through their participation in preparation of health plans in the Gaza Strip to cope with crises and emergencies. 3. Integrate the health work between Gaza and the west bank and neutralize it from any political conflicts. 4. Prepare and update a guideline regularly including the priorities of the various needs and activities of the public health sector.
