Abstract

The study aims at identifying the extent of the charities' contributions to development in the Gaza Strip. The Researcher adopts the analytical descriptive method. The study population includes all charities in the Gaza Strip which are (842) associations. The sample used in this study consists of a random stratified sample of (168) charities in the Gaza Strip which represents (20%) of the study population. The Study results in (138) questionnaires which used as the study tool. The study uses Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to answer all its questions. The following are the most important results of the study: - The mean of Charities' contribution to development in the Gaza Strip is (6.262) and the relative weight is (62.619). - The mean of the charities' funding role on achieving development in the Gaza Strip is (5.871) and the relative weight is (58.705). - The mean of the developmental methodology in the charities' programs and projects is (7.164) and the relative weight is (71.640). - The mean of the compatibility of the charities' programs and projects with the national development plan in the Gaza Strip is (5.415) and the relative weight is (54.151). - The mean of the contribution of the political and legal environment to development for charities in the Gaza Strip is (6.598) and the relative weight is (65.978). - There are variables that couldn't make any differences with statistical indication at the indication level (α≤0.05) in the charities' contribution in the Gaza Strip. These variables are: (Sex, academic qualification, years of service, age of association, association's headquarters, the association's main work field). The study recommends a number of recommendations, including: Charities should implement income-generating projects that can ensure selfincome which can be relied upon to fund the association's programs and projects. Associations should adopt developmental projects that contribute at achieving an independent income for beneficiaries so that they can manage their own affairs after the project ends by themselves. This therefore can enhance the developmental role of these association. The study also recommends that charities should be evaluated by the National Program Indicators which consider the developmental dimension in the charities' work
