Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the extent of applying Balanced Scorecard to assess performance of Al-Aqsa Media Network Institution (AMNI). The primary and secondary data were collected to achieve objectives of this study. A questionnaire was designed to survey opinions of the study sample (working in supervisory positions) whose members’ number was 65 employees. The study used the descriptive analysis to prove the study hypotheses and to reach the results. The study found that the application drivers of the Balanced Scorecard dimensions (financial dimension, customer dimension, internal operations dimension, learning and growth dimension, and social dimension) to assess performance of the AMNI are available with a high degree, since the median was 72.3%. This is a clear sign that there is a great potential for applying this methodology at AMNI, that is in order to improve its organizational administrative and financial level, and any other aspects as a tool of strategic management tools. It showed that the application drivers of this methodology are available and varies with simple percentages. It showed that the application drivers of the social dimension is available by more than %70 )78.6 %(, the clients dimension is available by more than 70% (75.8 %), for the financial dimension is available by 70.01 %, for the internal operations dimension is available by not more than 70% (68.4 %), and for the development and learning dimension is available by not more than 70% (66.9 %). The social dimension comes first then followed by the customer dimension and the financial one successively. The study also found that there is no statistically significant differences in the average respondents responses about the availability of the application drivers of the Balanced Scorecard dimensions in assessing the AMNI performance due to demographic variables (sex, age, degree, job title, and experience), except customer dimension and learning and growth dimensions, since there were statistically significant differences related to variable of ‘place of work’ and in favor of those working for Al Aqsa Sat Channel. The study suggested that the AMNI management should seek supporting the adoption and application of the Balanced Scorecard as a comprehensive system of strategic management, with the creation of conditions required to activate its application in the AMNI. Additionally, working on attracting professional and human staff who are able to apply this technique to measure performance of AMNI. Furthermore, working on spreading culture of overall performance evaluation among the AMNI staff through providing them with training courses including increasing awareness of the application importance for this technique. Moreover, working on developing techniques to identify opinions of customers regarding AMNI, and analyzing and study all their desires and aspirations
