Abstract

This study deals with the role of the religious Dimension in the development of US-Israeli relations and its reflection on the Palestinian issue in the period of (2001-2008) through recognition of the evolution of both the United States and Israel and the role of dogmatic foundations about it. Political relationship between the politician and the religious in the United States and the effect of that in the US foreign policy, particularly the relations with Israel is also investigated. The influence of ideological aspects in the evolution of US-Israeli relations under George Bush Jr. administration in the period of (2001-2008) and the demonstration of the consequences of the American-Israeli relations on the Palestinian issue has been also put into consideration. In his study, the researcher has used several research methods. The researcher used the historical method in order to trace the development of relations between the two countries and to highlight the impact of the ideological considerations on it. He also used the descriptive analytical method in order to determine the circumstances and relationships that exist between the variables. The mutual benefit approach (approach the national interest) has been also carried out. The most important results due to this study are: Despite of the idea of separation between religion and policy, as stipulated in the Constitution of the United States of America, religion is an important factor in public life in the United States to the extent that it penetrates in different state institutions and affects a direct impact on US foreign policy. ز Religious and political sides in the United States are two sides of the same coin so that each depends on the other to derive its societal legitimacy, although it appears that the US States are secular. Religious principles, derived from the Bible, constitute the political orientation when politicians are taking their decision. There is a significant religious impact affecting American politicians. For example, American President Bush believes greatly in religious prophecies in American society so that he used to appeal the American voter through introducing those prophecies in his electoral speeches. Religious and ideological belief are the basis on which the relations between the United States and Israel are built so as to reach what it is nowadays. The study came out with some important recommendations. As follows: Coordination at the Arab official level within the United States and abroad through the development of political and media strategy to counter the smear campaigns against the Arabs and Muslims launched by the Zionist forums and sympathizers with them. As well as working on solving the problem of inter-Palestinian divisions in order to unify the Palestinian efforts facing the US-backed Israeli policy. Coordination with the Palestinian efforts with the related Arab countries to mobilize the efforts leading to an appropriate solution to the Palestinian issue. Interest in understanding US foreign policy toward the Palestinian-Israeli conflict permanently and continuously and working on coordination with the ح Arab lobbies and influential forces affecting the American political decisionmaking institutions.
