Abstract

This study aims at recognizing the relationship between administrative empowerment dimensions such as authorization in power and authorities, selfmotivation, personal development, team work, creative behavior, and effective communication on the one hand, and achievement motivation on the other for managers and heads of departments working at higher education institutions in Gaza governorates. The problem of this study lies in answering the following question: ‘What is the relationship between administrative empowerment and achievement motivation for managers and heads of departments working at higher education institutions in Gaza governorates?’ This study only tackled the government-run higher education institutions in Gaza, namely: Al-Aqsa University, Palestine Technical College, and the University College of Science and Technology. The study population included all the administrative employees (managers and heads of departments) working at higher education institutions in Gaza governorates. The number of those employees is 135, while the sample of this study included 95. Those were the ones who returned questionnaires making the percentage of the population of the study %70.3. The researcher used a descriptive analytical approach through two sources of data, namely: main sources such books, previous relevant studies, and primary sources such as data collection through the questionnaire. The study has reached the following findings: - There is a statistical relationship between the dimensions of administrative empowerment and achievement motivation in the Palestinian educational institutions. - There are no statistical differences in the responses of those surveyed with regard to administrative empowerment and achievement motivation for the managers and heads of departments at higher education institutions in Gaza. This is attributed to three variables: gender, nature of work, and years of experience. - There are statistical differences in the responses of those surveyed with regard to administrative empowerment and achievement motivation for the managers and heads of departments at higher education institutions in Gaza. This is attributed to the variable of qualifications. The study recommends the following: - The researcher recommends that it is necessary to provide the required necessities and demands of employees as well as the institution with relevance to empowerment - It is necessary to create a section or department that aims at enabling employees at educational institutions.
