Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the significant and leading role which the Palestinian human rights organizations play in defending the undisputable rights of the Palestinians as well as promoting their recognition over their land, by offering diverse programs, during which it explicitly focuses on the following: the Palestinian people and servicesproviding; defending inalienable rights; and providing the atmosphere of living in dignity, glory and freedom, as provide for by the laws of celestial and international charters. First, the study focuses on the analytical descriptive approach. In analytical research, the researcher has to use facts or information already available, and analyse these to make a critical evaluation of the material. The study population consisted of all employees(numbered 190) of the Palestinian human rights organisations, to be allocated to (23) wellknown Palestinian human rights organisations. Second, questionnaire samples and interviews were also chosen as data collection instrument to provide answers to the questions of the study by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire which has been applicable to all members of the Palestinian community. Throughout the study, 180 questionnaires were filled up by a large number of people, thus making up 94.7% of the study population. Structure of the Study The study will be divided into chapters as follows: Chapter 1 begins with a theoretical framework of the study and previous studies. Chapter 2 deals with civil organizations and human rights. Chapter 3 talks about research methodology the research tends to use. Chapter 4 examines the results of the field study. Chapter 5 examines the results and recommendations of the proposed studies. Results : 1-The results of the study showed the impact of educational and awareness-related programs in regard to the development and building a personal target groups of the Palestinian civil society, in line with the values and concepts of civil society in general. ل Also, the study contributed to the disclosure of the role played by the human rights institutions in the development and construction of a democratic civil society through education and training- related programmes. 2- The study showed that there was a remarkable development with the target groups who participated in the training sessions. They were mainly focusing on the acquisition of new skills and experiences in the field of human rights and underscoring the importance of educational and awareness programs carried out by Palestinian human rights organizations towards both the civil society and human rights. 3-The study stressed the big role played by the human rights organisations on the defense of the Palestinian citizen’s rights with an estimate of 2.653 and relative level of 66.333. 4- The study showed statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05) in the role of human rights organisations in regard to the defense of the Palestinian citizen attributed to the variable nature of the work, and in favour of (permanent) employers. 5-The study stressed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05) on the role of human rights organisations with reference to the defense of the Palestinian citizen attributed to the variability in sex and age. 6- The study stressed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05) on the role of human rights organisations in regard to the defense of the Palestinian citizen attributed to the educational qualification and a variable number of years of service. Conclusion : Palestinian human rights organizations should take up the following responsibilities : 1. Listen to citizens' complaints, through an independent body. 2. Co-ordinate with the relevant local authorities, in order to provide service to the citizens and find a solution to their problems. 3. Launching advocacy campaigns with the participation of citizens concerned. 4. Listen to citizens' complaints. They[ the complaints] shall be documented and published via new media sites. م 5. Make a contribution to the formulation and modification of legislative acts in regard to Civil Rights. 6. Forge international alliances against the Israeli governments’ war crimes. 7. Unite the work of the Palestinian human rights organisations, and coordinate efforts among them so that they will be of service to the Palestinian citizen. 8. Co-ordinate Palestinian human rights organizations and Arab and international human rights organisations’ efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian citizen. 9. Create legal awareness and prepare plan for outreach to all segments of Palestinian society. 10. Bring Israeli officials before international courts and forums, and engage pro-Palestinian international law experts.
