Abstract

This study examines the techniques of the poetic text of Ali Jafar Al-Alaq. The study is limited to presenting a group of techniques distributed on four chapters, namely: symbol and myth, masks, intertextuality, visual formation and poetic space. The first chapter investigates the concept of the poetic symbol, its types that are employed by Al-Alaq in his poems such as: natural symbols, religious symbols, and heritage symbols. The chapter also illustrates the usage of legendary symbol to serve the poetic text. The second chapter was limited to presenting the concept of the mask, mentioning its importance in the contemporary poem. It illustrates the types of masks that appeared in the poems of Our poet, namely: the literary mask, the intellectual mask, and the selfmask. The third chapter explains the concept of intertextuality; studying the aspects of intertextuality, revealing the indications that influenced the text, and examining them according to their patterns in the poetry of Al-Alaq, namely: Quranic intertextuality, literary intertextuality, and folklore intertextuality. As for the fourth chapter, it investigates the concept of visual formation and poetic space, analyzes patterns of visual formation, and discussing its methods used by Al-Alaq. The conclusion followed the fourth chapter and includes the most important findings and recommendations of the study.
