Abstract

This study deals with a concept of that represents an approach towards administrative development, namely the concept of mentorship. It also identifies the requirements needed for its application, and the advantages and constraints of such application. The study provided a framework for the relationship between Mentorship and organizational commitment, which represents a guide for enhancing the enabling environment towards the application of the concept to better its impact on the levels of organizational commitment with all its types- normative, affective and continuance. The conclusion of the study came to assess the need for the availability of number of requirements for an effective application of the process of Mentorship; i.e, leadership, communication, and supportive organizational culture. The Study has shown that these requirements have direct impact on organizational commitment. The Applied study showed that Staff of supervisory functions in the National Bank of Egypt - head office have a high degree of Readiness to act as Mentors , and The staff of nonsupervisory functions have a high degree of organizational commitment .
