Abstract

The study aims to identify the role of the Palestinian family in enhancing citizenship values in the study sample in Gaza Strip; also it investigates the family role in enhancing citizenship according to each of the following demographic valuables (gender، age، educational level، governorates، income level، residence and type of residence). It focuses on the main barriers that faced the Palestinian families in enhancing citizenship values. In this study، the descriptive analytic method and historical method are used، as 500 families from governorates of Gaza (North Gaza Governorate، Gaza Governorate، Deir al-Balah Governorate، Khan-Yunis Governorate، and Rafah Governorate) are included in the study sample by using available sampling. The questionnaire is applied on the exploratory sample of 40 families to verify its authenticity; and to analyze the results، researcher used several statistics methods via (SPSS). The most important findings of the study: 1- Only 68.6% of the Palestinian families enhance citizenship values among their citizens; and that the highest role of the enhancement is patriotism while the least is the political participation. 2- In the field of patriotism، the results verified that the greater patriotic values، the higher the political participation، social participation and democratic practice are. Also، the greater the political participation، the higher is patriotism. 3- The study shows that enhancement in political participation values in males is greater than females; whereas، democratic practice is greater in females than in males.
