Abstract

The chaotic growth of Bethlehem represents an aggression on some of community values that are reflected in space and activities. Cultural landscapes express both spatial and social entities that do influence ecological balance, individuals’ connection and relation to the place. This research intends to study cultural landscape at Bethlehem city which represents a unique model of architectural morphology and cultural heritage, in order to come up with clear understanding of the values of cultural landscape for the national identity and quality of life; then to generate policies and strategies capable of managing this fortune conveying community needs and enhancing cultural landscapes quality. Research methodology is based on deducting methods, contexts and values from theoretical repository and comparative case study analysis, then exposing the case of Bethlehem in the laboratory of strategic planning cycle which concentrates on extensive field work aiming at assessing target area condition and ending up by creating a clear vision for the study target area The final research outcomes are strategies and strategic options for the integration of cultural landscape at Bethlehem historic center buffer zone. This includes a demonstration for cultural landscape components in the micro and macro levels to achieve study queries.
