Abstract
The aim of the current research is to analyze the content of physics books at the secondary level according to S.T.S.E standards, and to achieve this goal the researcher used the descriptive analytical method, and after reviewing a set of literature, research and studies, a list of S.T.S.E standards was reached in its initial form, and the list was presented to a group of arbitrators and specialiS.T.S in Curricula and teaching methods were apparently validated, and thus the list consisted in its final form of (8) major issues, namely (air and atmosphere quality, energy shortage, pollution of all kinds, nuclear reactors, communication technology, war technology, health and preventive security, radiation and their effects) From it emerged (69) sub-issues, then the researcher analyzed the content of physics books at the secondary stage in light of the list that was built. The content analysis included six books of (863) pages, and the idea was adopted as a unit for recording and repetition and a unit for enumeration, and validity of the analysis was conducted by presenting A random sample of it on the arbitrators, and they unanimously agreed on the validity of the analysis, and by using the Holsti equation, the reliability of the analysis was calculated in agreement with external analyS.T.S and the researcher herself. Among the most important findings of the researcher is that the physics textbook for the sixth grade science is the most addressed book for S.T.S.E standards, as it got (27.22%) by (567) iterations, while the science book for the first intermediate grade got the lowest percentage, as it achieved ( 7.2%) by (150) recurrences, and the main issue (lack of energy) ranked first in physics textbooks for having the highest number of iterations, while the issue (war technology) ranked last with the fewest number of iterations In light of the results of the research, the researcher recommended the necessity of achieving balance and complementarity and taking into account the sequences and consistency in the content of physics books for the secondary stage in their inclusion of S.T.S.E issues, and the inclusion of the content of books for the main and sub-issues neglected and which did not get a good share, consistent with the importance of these issues To complete this study, the researcher suggested the following : 1- Analyzing the content of elementary science books to identify the extent to which they include S.T.S.E issues . 2-Conducting a comparative study between physics curricula in Iraq and physics curricula in some Arab countries according to S.T.S.E issues
