Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the effect of the PECS strategy on the achievement of chemistry and holistic thinking among students of the fifth scientific and biological studies. To verify this goal, the following two hypotheses were formulated : 1-There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of female students of the experimental group who are studying according to the strategy (P.E.C.S) and the average score of the students of the control group who are studying according to the usual method of achieving the chemistry. 2-There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of female students of the experimental group who are studying according to the strategy (P.E.C.S) and the average score of the students of the control group who study according to the usual method of comprehensive thinking. To confirm the two research hypotheses, the researcher chose the experimental approach with partial control, which is the dimensional test of achievement and comprehensive thinking of what is characterized by the ability to control the various factors affecting the phenomenon to be studied. The research community was represented by the fifth scientific students in the third day preparations and government secondary schools affiliated with the education of Baghdad, Al-Karkh Third. The number (49) schools distributed in (6) sectors. As for the research sample, it was represented by the fifth scientific students in the biological science. Two divisions of the school in a random manner to represent one of the experimental group of (35), which will study the chemistry subject according to the PECS strategy, and the second of the control group of (36) that will study the same subject according to the usual way, and the equivalence was done statistically Between the two groups in search of some variables, namely, (chronological age in months, the collection of the previous year, the level of intelligence (Otis Lennon), test the previous information, holistic thinking scale). With regard to the research tools, an achievement test was prepared that included (40) items, of which (30) were subjective items of the multiple choice type with four alternatives, and (10) article articles, and its validity, consistency, the difficulty of its paragraphs, the distinguishing strength of it and the effectiveness of the wrong alternatives were verified, and a scale was prepared. For holistic thinking, the scale consists of (48) items distributed in five areas (quality and meditation in performance, dealing with generalities, ease of dealing with others, mental imagination and holistic perception, dealing with abstracts and ambiguous situations). Relationship of the degree of the paragraph to the degree of all The (internal consistency), the correlation of the vertebrae to the domain to which they belong, and the relationship of the fields with each other (the correlation matrix), the following statistical methods have been adopted (t-test for two independent samples, difficulty coefficient, differential power factor, substitution effectiveness equation, and correlation coefficient equation Pearson, the Alpha Cropnach equation, and the Cooper equation The search results showed the following: 1-There is a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of female students of the experimental group who are studying according to the strategy (P.E.C.S) and the average score of female students of the control group who are studying according to the usual method of obtaining chemistry and in favor of the experimental group. 2-The presence of a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of students of the experimental group who are studying according to the strategy (P.E.C.S) and the average score of the students of the control group who are studying according to the usual method of comprehensive thinking and in favor of the experimental group. In light of this, a number of conclusions, recommendations and proposals were reached.
