Abstract
The current study aimed to: 1. Measuring the ego depletion of distinguished students 2. Constructing a guidance program by using a self-instructions method to reduce the ego depletion among distinguished students. 3. Identifying the effect of the self-instruction method in reducing the ego depletion among distinguished students. To achieve this aim, the researcher assumed the following null hypotheses: 1. There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group members in the pre-test and the post-test on the ego depletion scale. 2. There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between the average scores of the control group members in the pre-test and the post-test on the ego depletion scale. 3. There are no statistically significant differences at the level (0.05) between the average ranks of the members of the two groups (experimental and control) in the post test on the ego depletion scale. For the purpose of testing these hypotheses, the researcher used (the design of the experimental and control groups) with partial control. The sample study of the program application consisted of (20) distinguished students, who obtained the highest scores on the ego depletion scale, in that they have distributed randomly between two groups, an experimental group and a control group, (10) students in each group and the researcher conducted the equivalence between the two groups in a number of variables that are related to the dependent variable. B The researcher applied the ego depletion scale which consists of (30) items on a sample of (100) students in order to detect the students who have a high ego depletion. The researcher constructed the ego depletion scale according to (Baumeister, 1998) definition in that the scale consisted of (30) items distributed over (6) areas: 1. Performance. 2. Distraction. 3. Effort. 4. Attrition. 5. The ability to self-control. 6. The difficulty of the task. The researcher had done the following: 1. Proving the validity of items logically by displaying to a group of experts, analyzing them statistically by the two methods of the different groups, and the relationship of the items with the total score of the scale. To calculate the reliability, the researcher adopted Cronbach's alpha method, and the stability coefficient of the scale was (0.77), and the method of testing and re-testing in that the coefficient of stability of the scale was (0.80). 2. Constructing a guidance program to reduce the ego depletion of distinguished students, in that has constructed according to the selfinstructions method. The program sessions amounted to (10) guidance sessions, and the time of each session was (45) minutes, two sessions per week. C The researcher used the statistical program (spss) in the study to analyze the data, and has been reached the following results: 1- There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group members in the pre-test and the post-test in favor of the post-test. 2- There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the control group members in the pre- test and post-test. 3- There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the average ranks of the experimental and control group members in the post test in favor of the experimental group The current study recommended and proposed a number of recommendations and suggestions are including:
